Twin Turrets

If you check the Twin Turrets box in Configuration Machine the special functions for Okuma and Fanuc TTB control twin-turret lathes will take effect.

OKUMA

The editor will be split into two windows. Programs loaded in will be automatically split and the A turret will be put in the left window and the B turret will be put in the right window. If there is simultaneous turning with both turrets the P numbers will be lined up with each other. Then during plotting the lines in both windows will be read and plotted. If there are movements on both lines then they will be plotted simultaneously.

Since loading and saving the programs involves splitting and assembling, several rules apply to the Okuma programs in order to work right.

1.G13 or G14 should be at beginning of change of turret. Put all tool information and comments after this.

2.Need load tool comment code for each turret to make sure correct tool is loaded.

3.Synchronized tools must be next to each other in the program file.

4.If using both turrets, every G13 or G14 segment should have at least one P number in it.

5.For synchronized turrets, G14 segment should come after the G13 segment in the program file.

6.Sections that are synchronized must have matching P numbers.

A section is from a G13 to the next G14 or from a G14 to the next G13.

Fanuc TTB control

This control uses two separate programs – one for each turret. The two turrets are synchronized by M codes from M100 to M999

In order to load in your two separate programs in the side by side editors, you must use the right mouse button popup menu for each window. When you right click on either edit window and choose 'Load Text', it will know which edit window you want to put it into.

After the two programs are loaded, clicking 'Sync Turrets' on the Utilities2 menu add blank lines in the editors to line up the M codes higher than M99. Then during plotting, each turret will be shown operating in the proper sequence.

You can save the two files individualy by chooseing File-Save Text on the right mouse button popup menu for each editor. Or pressing the 'Save File' button or main menu will automatically save both files to their individual names. When the files are saved the blank lines will be removed.

Twin Turrets must be checked in Configuration-Machine for this to operate.

You may also want to use the Mirror CAD for Lathe checkbox in Configuration Screen.
